Hello all, here we are at the end of our Genius Hour project. What an enjoyable and sometimes difficult journey this was ! I am a glad to say that I was able to have fun and rediscover the kid in me that liked to build and take apart things with motors. While building the simple motor, it inspired me to ask more questions and seek more answers by experimenting with the build and the materials. We are never too old to play, to discover and to learn! This project was a good reminder that sometimes we need to push ourselves outside of our comfort zone to grow. For me, the TED Talk was the biggest challenge to overcome, and I am proud that I got through it! If I were to do it over, I would use a variable power supply as oppose to a battery. This would make it easier to see the different results when changing the voltage. I hope to implement a similar type of project in my future transportation class, allowing students to stay curious.and discover through the sc...
Alright folks ! The journey is now getting interesting... I have drawn a plan of my first design model and next week I will be building it to run my first test. I consider this to be the fun part of the project. I have to admit that I’m actually excited and inspired to build and test it out ! For those who would like to attempt the build: I am including an approximate price list of materials that I have used up to now. Keep in mind, I will be experimenting with other materials that may not be listed here. I will keep you updated on the tweaks I make along the way. Here are a few websites that inspired my build: The Simplest Motor StudySmarter Simple Motor I hope you join me next week to see how things are coming along !
